As many of you know our beloved husband and father, Frederick (Changan) Gao passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 17th. We are still gutted and raw at losing him, but we wish to honor his memory with a vibrant and joyful celebration of his life.

He was never good at being the center of attention, but his artworks on the other hand…he felt a resolute and beaming pride when people showed admiration for his paintings. That is exactly why we have fashioned this event to mimic that of a gallery reception. Fred was also a lover of pizza and dumplings (and strawberry and coffee ice cream), and so that’s what we’ll do together to celebrate his life. There’d be no better way.

We will be serving his favorite foods and showcasing his thought-provoking and intimate pieces.

We can be somber another time—but on 1/27—come prepared to celebrate.

Important Event Details

Parking

  • This is a private residence, so parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged

  • There will be two parking options: 1) the top of the hill 2) bottom of the hill

    If you are able-bodied, please park at the bottom so elders and disabled folks have first priority closer to the house

Attire

  • There’s no specific dress code, just come as you are

  • This is a shoes-off residence, so feel free to wear snazzy socks or bring slippers if you’d like

Format/Program

  • Drop in and drop out within the 1-4pm timeframe

Fred’s dear friend Shudong has offered up a Zoom option. Check in at 1:30pm to ensure that we’re set up.
